Posted by Holly On May - 30 - 2008

Everyone wants to make money online, the US economy stinks so many americans are looking online for an income and other countries are not really doing much better so everyone is looking.

I have created a list of what I belive are the top 10 ways not to make money online.

10. Sign up for every Get Paid To site and do all of the free offers in one day.

9.  Set up a blog put advertising on it and set it to privite so no one can see it. (yes it has been done)

8. Spell every other word on your website or blog wrong and then yell at everyone who points it out.

7. Buy get rich quick programs that promise you everything but really just take your money

6. Start 20 blogs all at the same time, post on each for a week and then give up because your too tired.

5. Ask people to donate to your “I need a Nentendo Wii or I’ll die!“ fund

4. Create a website with nothing on it but ads and expect people to click them

3. Join a social site and never go back to it

2. Tell everyone it’s so easy to make money online, but you have only made $5 in 6 months.

1. Try to sell all of those get rich quick programs to your friends, it won’t work if they are smarter then you are.

A very helpful blog and a life saver

Posted by Holly On May - 30 - 2008

In my surfing online I found a very helpful blog. I have been reading it for about 2 weeks now and I have to say it is probably the best find I have seen yet. Court’s Internet marketing school is a down to earth approach to INTERNET marketing. She has some wonderful tips and she explains them in English, not geek that no one understands. Kind of the same thing I’m trying to do, but she knows alot more about marketing then I do.

One recent post I found helpful was the one on selling advertising on your site. I have always wanted to do this myself but was never exactly sure how to go about it. I set up advertising prices on this blog, but have not had much luck with it. I’m going to be using some of her advice on this blog and my Interior design blog.  I am hoping that using these steps will help me make an extra income without all the time I have to put in now. I want to be able to in a year make extra money without having to spend hours at a computer as I hope to have a job then since I will be graduating from collage.

You may wonder why I am pointing you to this site when I want you to read this blog, well because it’s helpful and you can use the tips and programs I tell you about in conjunction with what this blog has to say. I know I can’t give you this information myself, so I will show you someone who can.

Learning something

Posted by Holly On May - 26 - 2008

I wrote the other day about not being able to get traffic to many of my blogs. Today on my design blog I have gotten over 700 visitors because of one post about self watering pots. Apparently I just need to find more interesting and new things to talk about!

The best part about all of this unplanned traffic is that I have used widgetbucks ad’s on that site, but Saturday I switched to a large banner where I get paid per visitor. So I should be seeing a large increase in my commissions within the next few days. I love their new widget. I have made much more now then I did before.

Oh and did I mention that post also got over 400 visits yesterday.

Traffic eludes me

Posted by Holly On May - 25 - 2008

I have noticed a drop in my traffic on most of my blogs. I think a lot of it has to do with my lack of time to write, that will only last another 2 weeks and then I’ll have more time. Until then I have decided to try another new way to get my sites out there. Blog upp is a new way I have found to get my blogs advertised for free. Right now I don’t have money to pay for advertising and I probably won’t for a while, but thats okay since you can find many ways to advertise for free.

The best part about Blog upp is that you don’t actually have to sign up for anything, you just place the widget on your site after you give them your URL and that’s it. As you can see I am testing it out with this blog. It hasn’t done much yet, but I just put it up yesterday.  I’ll keep you updated as to how it goes.

Free Ebooks, a great way to get traffic

Posted by Holly On May - 22 - 2008

I always love free things and sometimes you can find some really good information for free. One blogger is giving away ebooks free on their website. This is a great idea as it can give you traffic and maybe a few readers. Ebooks are a great way to get information out there and also your name or website.

Some people will tell you don’t waste your time with ebooks. I think if your going to try to sell them then yes don’t waste your time. They can be hard to sell and many people don’t trust them. Now if you give them away to attract website or blog visitors then I think your safe. Once you have one out and it actually works for a few people then maybe you could try selling one cheep.

Blogs and advertising

Posted by Holly On May - 19 - 2008

If your new to making money online and your excited about it. I would recommend starting a blog if you have not already. The catch is start one on your own domain. People who have some online experience know that blogs on free programs like blogger tend to be spammy. These blogs usually don’t last long so advertisers won’t advertise on them.

If you belong to any affiliate programs whether it be for advertising products or get paid to sites. You want to remember one thing, do not spam your links on every post you make, every forum you join or every comment you make on other blogs. These links, except those on your own blog will be deleted. Trust me I’m a moderator on a forum, that is our job.

The best thing to do is get people to like you and trust you. On your blog post about yourself, talk about your interest besides making money and go from there. This of course is for your first blog, I have a total of 5 blogs and link them together often so that people can get to know me and my interest. This blog was my 4th blog and I have really just had some fun with it. I’m looking to help people, not just myself. I hope that shows in my writing. This is how you should go about a blog about money making. Don’t make it just to get referrals or a sale, make it to help people, if they sign up with your link or buy a product that was on your site, great. If not at least you helped someone. I think so many people right now want money so badly that they forget that others need it just as bad.

The point of this is to make your blog personal. I started with a general blog where I talked about anything, I did this so I could write whatever I wanted to. I wasn’t making any money at the time. I think in order to start a money making blog you need to have at least made $300 or more a month for a few months. It’s not much but many people will agree that $300 is better then nothing. So if your starting out, start with a general blog, write about yourself, about your programs and about anything else you want to. Put some advertising on the sidebar. Get to know people a little and build a reputation, then try to sell them something. People are smarter then you think when it comes to things online. They have learned not to trust everything.

Entrecard, does it still work?

Posted by Holly On May - 17 - 2008

I decided this month to up my advertising on Entrecard. I have started dropping more cards and buying more advertisements, but I have not noticed a huge increase in traffic. I have been doing this on many of my blogs and I have not gotten anything from it.

I think most people now have a favorites list they go to and thats it, or they only drop on cards in their category or something. Everyone has a right to do as they please but I’m finding I’m not very happy with the lack of traffic from them. Of course I will still use them as one or two visitors is better then none.

Widgetbucks, should you use them

Posted by Holly On May - 15 - 2008

I have been working with widgetbucks for a few months now. At first I was not very impressed, but at the same time I was not doing well with some of my other ppc advertising so I didn’t worry too much about it. Now I have found a great secret to using them. Those of you who stuck with them know about this already, but if your new to them or you joined and then gave up you should check this out and check them out again.

The new ad widgets they have now show a short advertisement before the products are shown. This PPC advertisingadvertisements pays per view so you can make money as long as you have visitors. They still don’t support some country’s visitors but if you have primarily an American, European or Australian base for your site you could make some cash using this. Other countries are included but again some are not.

I like this type of advertising because you can see the product being advertised. You don’t have to guess what it is and most of the time that will make people click on the ad even more. I know I do. I even have to keep myself from clicking on my own when I see something I’m interested in. That part sucks, but I don’t want to get into trouble.
